Exhibit Title:  Watercolor and Wood by Karin Sebolka and George Jones III
Show Dates: Tuesday, November 2 – Sunday, December 5, 2021
Artist’s Reception: Saturday, November 6, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm (in-person)

About the Artists: Karin Sebolka is inspired by this beautiful State and the lake where she lives – these watercolors show her favorite subjects – florals, landscapes and lakescapes.

Drawing classes at the Corcoran School of Art, studies of Oriental Brush Painting and Calligraphy – while living in Thailand and South-Korea – had a great impact on her style of painting with watercolors, oils and pastels.  Watercolor is Karin’s favorite medium. Classes and workshops with well-known watercolor artists helped her master skills in her watercolor.

Karin is a juried-in member of the Potomac Valley Watercolorists and the Washington Watercolor Association.

George Jones III first started woodturning in high school and it was an art form that he always wanted to revisit. George’s approach to woodturning is to discover what awaits him on the inside of a log or slab of wood.

The woods that he loves to work with are those pieces that have their own stories.  Some say woodturners should only work with materials without flaws; George calls those “beauty marks.”  George studied under some extremely talented artists and without a doubt has drawn much from them as well as fellow artists to arrive at his ever-moving destination of giving materials a second chance.
