Lori Welch Brown is a mixed-media abstract artist and Northern VA native. Art has always been her passion, and after a long break (aka career as a busy entrepreneur), she stumbled upon a drawing class, and has been learning, experimenting, exploring, and creating ever since.
Also a writer, Lori often incorporates words, phrases, and quotes into her paintings. Though they may get painted over during the creative process, she considers them hidden treasures instilling meaning into each piece.
Lori loves working in acrylics, collage, pastel, and charcoal. She often begins a piece with an intended subject (florals being a favorite) or a thought conveyed in words. She then leans heavily into her intuition; the end result is often a pleasant surprise—assuredly with a burst of bright colors.
Animals are also a passion, and Lori has completed numerous pet commissions for patrons over the years.
Lori is a member of The Del Ray Artisans and an exhibiting member of The Art League.
